NY BRIDAL MARKET: Patron of the Arts

April 6, 2009

Now I love Tiffany & Co. as much as the next girl (well, maybe a bit more).  So imagine my glee at having to head uptown to the hallowed jewelry house to see Carolina Herrera’s latest collection.  Little did I know that I would be getting an art lesson, as Herrera’s gowns were all inspired by great painters (including Matisse, Klimt, Degas, and Monet).  As the groovy international crowd looked on, sipping Pellegrino or Pommery Pop champagne, Herrera paraded designs with hand-painted water lilies and embroidered English net around the store. Of course color was key: A mint green ball gown and a dramatic pink-blush column offered real wow-factor.  The accessories were, natch, gorgeous Tiffany gems.   —Terrie, NY Bridal Market
